Media : The drama involving Engfa and Popor. At first, when I saw this on my timeline, I didn't think it was a big deal, but it became a hot topic because so many people were weighing in. The Engfa-Charlotte fandom felt their intentions were being misinterpreted—specifically, that they were being labeled as fans who are overly possessive of their idols—when, in reality, there was more to the story.

Q : From their perspective?

Media : Yes, the fans—and those defending Engfa—have their own perspectives. So, I’ve decided to share this as today’s lighthearted news story. The story goes that Engfa and Charlotte recently joined a fan meeting (4E). Fans of the "EngLot" believed this might be their final joint event, as Charlotte was not renewing her contract with MGI.

Fans from both Thailand and abroad bought tickets and traveled from afar to attend. They viewed it as a major, significant event. However, on that same day, the third person—the athlete Popor—tagged Engfa in an Instagram Story. (Just a side note: I’ve met Popor before; she is nice and friendly.)

When Popor tagged Engfa in that Story... ...many felt the timing was rather inappropriate. First, the content of the tagged Story led the fan community to question whether there was a romantic undertone? People began speculating: Was there "something" going on between Popor and Engfa? Were they flirting or dating?

Second, the fact that the tag occurred on the day of the CP's event raised questions about timing and appropriateness, sparking significant criticism within the community and on Twitter.

As criticism mounted and the backlash intensified, Popor issued a clarification (summarizing the key points), yet the uproar did not subside. Within the community, reactions varied; some offered reasoned arguments, while others criticized based purely on emotion. The fanbase is diverse; we shouldn't generalize and assume that one person's viewpoint represents the entire fandom—that simply isn't possible.

Regarding the widespread online discourse, most fans stated that they had no personal issue with Engfa dating; they support the artist's freedom to have a relationship and are happy for her.

However, the incident in question occurred during a scheduled event with her partner. Fans felt she should have shown respect to the audience—specifically to those who paid to attend the event.

The actions that caused this discomfort stemmed from a third party: Popor.

Fans believe that while an artist's dating life is a private matter, respecting the fanbase, collaborating professionally with a partner, and bringing joy to paying fans are public matters that demand respect.

Fans feel that if Popor truly wishes to pursue a relationship with Engfa, she must first show respect to the people who support Engfa too.

This is the main point fans have tried to convey—that they aren't being possessive of the artist, nor do they insist that Engfa must only be paired with Charlotte. That represents the majority view among fans. However, it must be acknowledged that some individuals were extremely angry, resorting to harsh and derogatory comments regarding Popor's gender identity—behavior that we do not condone.

Engfa herself hasn't made a public move, but those around her have. The first to speak up was P'Sun (read+summary), someone close to Engfa, followed by Engfa’s mother (read+summary). Everyone has their own reasons and perspectives, but these actions have led the public to feel that the people surrounding an artist don't necessarily need to get involved.

When those close to an artist step in to lecture, point fingers, or bring up past favors, it often exacerbates the situation. Ultimately, it seems like everyone is standing their ground. If we consider one another, things can work out—even if we don't fully agree with every party involved. However, when emotions come into play, these kinds of conflicts become unavoidable. This can happen in any fandom—involving fans, artists, and the nature of support.

What I want to emphasize is that everyone is human; we all have thoughts and feelings, and it is natural to feel hurt or disappointed. Everyone has the right to walk away if they are unhappy or uncomfortable, and that decision should be respected. All I ask is that any action taken is grounded in mutual respect.

If we prioritize mutual respect and empathy—putting ourselves in others' shoes—things would be much less harsh. Of course, that might be an idealistic view, given that the internet offers so much space for expressing opinions—sometimes, perhaps, too much.

Coexisting online means everything is public. Even if we view a tweet as a personal message within our own space, the fact that others can see it turns it into a shared environment. So, let’s try to be empathetic and consider the people who will be reading our words.
