2. Tightening Quadratic Convex Relaxations for the AC Optimal Transmission Switching Problem
C. Guo, H. Nagarajan, M. Bodur
INFORMS Journal on Computing
https://t.co/TnBenYkV8j
We solve large-scale mixed-integer nonlinear ACOTS problems, scaling to systems with over 2,000 buses.
🎉Two of my papers were accepted in Management Science and INFORMS Journal on Computing recently. Both started during my Ph.D., and I am glad to see them published now. Thank you to my coauthors for mentorship and support! (1/3)👇
1. Copositive Duality for Discrete Energy Markets
C. Guo, M. Bodur, J. A. Taylor
Management Science
https://t.co/zgRwV2b5vy
We design a novel pricing mechanism for nonconvex energy markets using copositive program and strong duality.
Check out our session WC16 on "Implications of Uncertainties and Market Power in Electricity Market Pricing" (Wednesday 12:15-1:30, Summit - 336) @INFORMS2024 :)
To tackle the resulting nonlinear nonconvex model, we develop a logic-based Benders decomposition method, enabling us to conduct extensive experiments using a realistic NYISO data set, showcasing the potential of our method to improve grid reliability under renewable integration.
Check out our paper on risk-aware unit commitment, now accepted at IEEE Transactions on Energy Markets, Policy and Regulation. This is a joint work with Daniel Bienstock, Yury Dvorkin (@yury_dvorkin), Robert Mieth and Jiayi Wang.

To protect consumers from growing risk of volatile net load with the surge in renewable energy, we propose an enhancement to the day-ahead electricity market. Our method features a data-driven uncertainty set, capturing locational correlation of uncertainty across the grid.

An additional tip for UofToronto students on job market. MacOS may auto-correct the “utoronto” in university email address to “toronto”. When I was on job market, I had the wrong email on my CV and almost missed my offer letter 🤦🏻♀️
I realized today that the Zoom calendar invites I sent out are always in Chinese, and I'd been wondering why people didn't accept my invites🤦🏻♀️. If there is anyone wondering how to change the iCloud calendar invite language, go to the AppleID website, instead of iCloud website...
