Why did you choose the indie hacker path?
What pushed you to become an indie developer?
🟢 Passion — I genuinely love building things.
💰 Income — I wanted another source of income (or financial freedom).
🤷 No better option — It felt like the best path available.
🚀 A dream — I wanted to build something that's truly mine.
💬 Other — Tell me your story.
Curious to see what brought everyone here.
The projects I believe in and the ones that actually perform better are almost never the same.
Daynova is the one I kept coming back to.
A habit app where streaks grow a living planet — quieter, more “me,” more time spent polishing the loop I actually wanted to use.
It’s been live for almost 2 months.
Total downloads: 2.
Other apps under the same roof have done fine.
This one — the one I was most sure about — barely moved.
I’m not shocked. Just noting the gap:
taste ≠ traction.
Belief ≠ distribution.

@a_shimanski Shipping small calm apps as a solo studio — habit/planet tracker on iOS, AI try-on + planning tools on Android, and a browser wallpaper mockup.
This week is mostly retention + store assets, not new features. What are you focused on?
@Shubham_iosdev Over-polishing before anyone sees it is still my default trap.
Biggest lesson for me: ship the boring core first, then only polish what users actually open twice. Curious which of the 5 cost you the most time.
@adriamatz This hits hard. The “3 weeks” only exists because of the previous 7 months of wrong turns.
Shipping multiple small apps taught me the same thing: each one pays tuition for the next. Distribution still feels harder than building though.
PixLume · Day 4
Paused paid UA.
What happened:
• Plan: ~$5/day
• Reality: $20+ spent fast — day 1 already overspent
• Targeting mistake: meant to exclude a few countries… selected only those countries instead
• Result: expensive installs, weak quality
• 2 crashes showed up under paid traffic (worst time to discover them)
• Ads “installs” ≫ real installs I can verify in-app / Play
• Ad revenue: basically noise vs spend (screenshot)
Paused. Not scaling into a broken setup.
Fixes before any restart:
1) ship crash fixes
2) rebuild geo correctly (exclude ≠ include)
3) trust first open / first edit more than network install counts
4) hard daily cap + check spend same day
Shipping is easy. Paying for the wrong users is expensive.
