She is a woman first.
She is Chinese second.
Only then is she a fan.
Being a fan is merely the smallest part of who she is.
When a woman, far from home, is publicly dragged away by several staff members, what is stripped from her first is not her identity as a fan—it is her dignity as a human being.
I understand that not everyone in the crowd is able to step in. Fear, uncertainty, or the chaos of the moment can stop people from acting.
But cheering while someone is being humiliated is something else entirely.
That is no longer fandom.

Ask yourself this:
If the woman being dragged were your friend, your sister, or your daughter, would you still be cheering?
No identity should ever be used to justify the loss of someone’s dignity.
She deserves respect not because she is a fan, but because she is a human being.
You can support your idol.
You can respect security measures.
You can oppose inappropriate behavior.
But none of that should require us to normalize violence or applaud humiliation.
The most heartbreaking part was not the people dragging her away.
It was the applause that followed.
Because it revealed how easily empathy disappears when someone is reduced to “just a fan.”
Before we are fans of anyone, we are human beings.
And that should always come first.
