An anonymous person emailed my firm email address personally just to express how unhappy he was with my opinion that UiTM should open up a one off course for 10 non bumi to resolve a severe shortage of cardiologists specialist doctors in Malaysia because he thinks we need Malay doctors only, amongst other weird statements you can read yourself 😂.

Universiti Teknologi Mara’s (UiTM) recent campaign against the potential intake of non-bumiputera students in certain courses is misguided, said rights group Pusat Komas.

While acknowledging UiTM's historical context of uplifting the bumiputera community, the NGO said maintaining bumiputera exclusivity in all programmes is not in line with the nation’s evolving needs.

“Malaysia is facing a critical shortage of specialists, particularly in fields like cardiothoracic surgery. This shortage affects all Malaysians,” it said in a statement today.

You now see why the far-right and extremists make threats. They are mostly anonymous. Even if they do not let me have my say, I still let them speak. Am I bothered by them? No, the more they criticize me for what I write, the more I realize that what I am saying must be true.
This is why I keep saying it is no longer possible to have a proper, open, discussion on Political Islam and its role in Malaysian society. These extremists take it as an attack on religion when it is about the role of religion in politics—something that is totally different. They do it on purpose so that you are on the defensive. It will not work on me, unfortunately.
