@godfathda @Starknet The key trade-off is flexibility versus security. ⚡ Having control over its post-quantum roadmap could give Starknet more room to adapt, but building and securing an independent L1 is a serious challenge. Definitely worth watching. 👀

Been looking at why @Starknet is leaning toward its own L1.

Their proofs are already in decent shape with STARKs, and account abstraction lets people change signature schemes without a fork.

What’s still stuck is the bridge (secp) and data availability (KZG) that ride on Ethereum.

Ethereum’s full post quantum timeline is around end of 2029.

Quantum estimates and AI driven cryptanalysis are not standing still though. If the practical window shrinks, waiting on another chain’s multi fork schedule becomes the bottleneck.

Running their own L1 lets them swap out those last pieces and set the timeline themselves instead of being locked to Ethereum’s calendar. Trade off is they have to secure the chain on their own, but the control is the whole point when threats start moving faster than governance.

Honestly, the thing that caught my attention about https://t.co/WxaoiPu6TC is not just the number of features they are putting together.

It is the idea of having everything in one place without giving up custody of your money.

Think about it. You have a bank for fiat, a wallet for crypto, and a brokerage for trading. Different accounts, different logins, different rules. Then you still have to move money between all of them.

The defi ID is probably one of the simplest ideas here, but I think it could make a real difference. Sending money to a name like https://t.co/Op8lnoQ183 feels way easier than copying a long wallet address and checking it five times before pressing send.

Then you have fiat on-ramps across USD, GBP, EUR, MXN, BRL and COP, plus the option to bring crypto directly from a self-custodial wallet and receive it as stablecoins.
