@HighlandDude@TheBreakdownAB@sherlockeditor It is illegal. That's why they change the laws whenever it suits them.
There is a defined process in place with very specific criteria about how the maps must be decided. They don't like those rules, so they're trying to make up new ones!
The media needs to stop writing/saying “billionaire Elon Musk.” Everyone knows who he is. If you must put a descriptor, say “Nazi Elon Musk” or “white supremacist Elon Musk.” Stop making him sound “smart.” He’s a lying, stealing Nazi.
@DianaStarshine@coffeeteanxiety Haha for everyday low-risk situations, I wear cute colourful earloop KN95s. But if I have to go to a big event, it's gonna be the headstrap N95 for best protection. So it always seems to be the fancier the outfit, the uglier the mask for me 😂
@jgreely_@guddetivenkat @Kenanstweets @LuisvonAhn@duolingo I catch words and phrases that I've learned on Duolingo & it's so exciting to understand a bit more than I would've before! And I'm not even actively trying, just absorbing. I bet if someone was serious about it, using other media in combo w Duolingo would be pretty effective 2/2
@jgreely_@guddetivenkat @Kenanstweets @LuisvonAhn@duolingo I use Duolingo more as a fun hobby than for serious study, so I don't actively seek out media for an immersive experience, but I do notice when a language pops up in a book or movie, like Gaelic in Outlander or Spanish in Jane the Virgin, 1/
@Mark49438347 @Kenanstweets @LuisvonAhn@duolingo It's obviously still not a substitute for an in-person class with a qualified teacher, or immersion in another country, but it's definitely good for more than just memorizing vocab now (at least for the more popular languages). 2/2
@Mark49438347 @Kenanstweets @LuisvonAhn@duolingo When I first started using it, it was mostly just translating individual sentences, which was mostly good for vocab. But nowadays the bigger courses have a lot of other activities, like conversations & stories that really make you think in the language. 1/
@Scaryunlce@JSJamato@ABDanielleSmith I don't think it's so much that she found out he's a moronic psychopath--that was already evident & she doesn't care. It's more that she found out that she is a nobody to him. The other leopards will eat her face without blinking. Otherwise, you're spot on.
@captainjujubean@BladeoftheS Any day now, Elon is gonna start growing a Hitler stache, and there will still be people insisting it's actually just Old Hollywood glamour 🫠
@echipiuk@sarahelder But it's not really even a political gain for Smith, except in the most short-sighted way. Everyone in history who has ever tried rolling over pre-emptively & kissing up to a dictator has just ended up getting used & disposed of.
@CampbellShelagh @JennaACunninham @maxfawcett There's always at least one with them. In any given situation, the question is really more how many *layers* of corruption will you find, the deeper you dig?
@ABDanielleSmith@SenRickScott If you love Florida so much, feel free to stay there and enjoy the land of mass shootings and healthcare that will bankrupt you. We don't want any of that up here, thanks!
@DaveMT12@NatePike Well if you're not wealthy, then she sure isn't representing your best interests, so if you agree with her, then you're letting her play you for a fool. Is that what you want, or do you want to be smarter than that? Up to you.
@cspotweet I also have a problem with them increasing their own accommodation allowance while doing nothing to keep rent down for everyone else. I have a problem with the utter hypocrisy & selfishness of it.
Yes MLAs should be able to afford the cost of living. So should everyone else. 3/3
@cspotweet Is the UCP caucus getting a raise but not the opposition caucus--wildly unfair. I also have a problem with giving themselves a raise but not raising minimum wage. Not paying EAs a living wage. Under-funding doctors & the healthcare system. 2/
