A shitload of his listeners are teenage boys, and this is how they hear women spoken about every single damn day. Then they go to school and treat their female classmates and teachers like this.

If you’re angry about it, DO SOMETHING. And stop telling us all to contact ACMA (they’re fucking useless) or one or more politicians (they’re captured by the media and also fucking useless). Nobody is coming to save us but ourselves.

Even worse, stop fucking telling us you don’t listen or nobody should listen. WE KNOW. Of course nobody should fucking listen. But while it’s legal and a shitload of people who don’t know any better listen to it, we’re in danger whether you hide your fucking head in the sand or not.

We will never pretend women aren’t being harmed by this shit just because we choose not to know about it. And we will never pretend we’re decent human beings for doing the absolute minimum required (not listening). You’re not smart for saying you don’t listen, you’re just showing the rest of us that your smug self-absorption keeps YOU safe from bullshit but fuck the teenage girls and all women repeatedly harmed. You hadn’t considered ‘incase he ties up her and her family and kills them all with a crossbow’, as one of the options.

We know for most women, the most dangerous moment in abuse is when they try to leave. You are most likely to be seriously attacked or killed as you leave, or just after you leave.

That was certainly true for me. Twice. One time resulted in lifelong injuries. Both resulted in police investigations and arrests. Just from choosing to end the relationship.

So next time you learn that a woman is stuck in abuse and can’t/won’t leave, maybe reserve your judgement and consider how much risk she knows she is at.
