So the question becomes:
Is a prenuptial agreement a practical legal safeguard or an indication of mistrust before marriage even begins?
I’d love to hear your thoughts. 💭
In many Western societies, prenups are relatively common. However, within the African cultural context, marriage is often viewed not just as a union between two individuals but between families, built on trust, love, and communal values.
A prenuptial agreement (prenup) is a legal agreement entered into by two people before marriage, outlining how assets, debts, and financial responsibilities will be handled during the marriage or in the event of divorce.
Justice begins with awareness, but it is sustained by action.
Let this month not just be productive, let it be purposeful.
What intentional step will you take this month to protect the vulnerable in your space?🌚🌚
As advocates of social justice, policymakers, parents, educators, and responsible members of society, we must remember:
The law is not just ink on paper.
Protection of minors is not optional, it is a duty.
But awareness alone is not enough!🤌🏼
This new month, I am choosing intention over silence.
I am choosing advocacy over indifference.
I am choosing protection over complacency.
In the past month, my posts have centered on issues many prefer to whisper about; “sexual violence”, the vulnerability of minors, consent, justice, and the role of the law in protecting the defenseless.
Prevention starts with education, open communication, and believing children when they speak.
If sexual violence steals a child’s voice, innocence, and peace, What are we, as a society, actively expected to do, to restore their safety and protect the next child??
EFFECTS OF SEXUAL ABUSE/VIOLENCE ON CHILDREN
Sexual violence against children is not just a crime it is a lifelong wound.
As an advocate against sexual abuse, I have consistently emphasized that minors are legally incapable of giving consent.
