alpha drive one sangwon has been confirmed as the new mc for mbc's 'show! music core'
as a result of tenasia's coverage on the 31st, ald1 member sangwon will take on the role of hosting 'music core'. with the news of boynextdoor's sungho being selected as an mc already known, the two will work together.
'music core' is mbc's representative music program that has been running since 2005 and is broadcast every saturday. n.double's kim gyuvin and tws's dohoon worked together as mcs from march of last year until the 22nd before stepping down. following them, sangwon and sungho will step up as the new faces.
sangwon participated in mnet's 'boys 2 planet' broadcast last year, taking first place in the finale and debuting as the center of alpha drive one. prior to his official activities, he made a name for himself as a member of trainee a, a pre-debut group planned by bighit music, forming a fandom early on. although he drew attention as a main dance member within the team, trainee a's debut was canceled in december 2022, and his contract with bighit music subsequently ended.
standing before the public again through 'boys 2 planet' about three years later, sangwon proved his strong fandom throughout the broadcast. he consecutively ranked first in individual rankings within his team during the class battle, position battle, and debut concept battle, and reached the top in the final rankings, joining alphadrive1. he continues to maintain high buzz even after starting team activities.
following his alpha drive one activities, sangwon gained hosting experience by acting as a special mc on sbs's 'inkigayo' and mnet's kcon. this is his first time taking on a fixed mc role for a music broadcast.
his connection with sungho, who he will be holding the mic with, is also drawing attention. sangwon was previously a trainee at bighit music under hybe, while boynextdoor, to which sungho belongs, is under hybe's label koz entertainment. additionally, as both were born in 2003 and are the same age, expectations are growing for the chemistry this new mc combination will show.
