“Abortion must be illegal”
A woman wanted an abortion 4 months in after finding out the fetus had no skull.
She was told no. Abortion was illegal.
She was forced to give birth, and so she did. The baby was born.
It couldn’t breath. The mother cried. It suffered for minutes. It died.
You are not pro-life.
You are pro-control.
The wildest part about poverty is how much time it steals. Waiting for buses. Calling assistance offices. Comparing grocery prices. Fighting insurance. Sitting at laundromats. Being poor is a second job nobody pays you for.
We are quietly isolating an entire generation of older people from society, and nobody seems to give a damn.
I took my 84-year-old grandfather to his local bank branch on Friday.
The exact same brick-and-mortar branch where he opened his first account in 1978.
We pull up to the front doors. They’re locked.
Inside is an empty lobby with a small sign: “Cashless Service Hub.”
A young guy in a polo shirt opens the door and tells us:
“We don't handle teller deposits or paper checks here anymore. You just need to download the mobile portal and scan your routing number.”
My grandfather pulls out an old flip phone with a cracked screen and a paper pension check from his coat pocket.
His hands were visibly shaking.
The employee just shrugs.
“You can do it on an iPad, or have a family member manage the app for you.”
This man worked forty-two years in a manufacturing plant. Paid his taxes. Fought for this country.
And now he is made to feel completely useless and stripped of his dignity because he doesn't own an iOS device.
Tech isn't making life easier if it completely locks out the people who built the world we’re living in.
Are your elderly parents or grandparents running into this wall too?
Doug Ford blamed students when he cut OSAP grants. He said they'd been abusing the system, but his government's own court records show students were always meant to be a scapegoat.
The Ford government has handed out hundreds of millions of dollars to for-profit career colleges, while failing in basic oversight. Meanwhile, our public institutions and their students are struggling amid chronic underfunding and the callous dismantling of OSAP.
Doug Ford needs to take some responsibility for what he's done to Ontario students. Pointing the finger at them doesn't cut it.

JD Vance doesn't believe trans people should be allowed to change their name — yet he's changed his first, middle, and last name several times each.
Poor guy’s gonna have a lot of trouble voting for himself in 2028!
A daughter of the people who built this country just got told to get out of it.
Vice President JD Vance, Lakeland, Oct 1, on Angie Nixon: “Then get the hell out of here. You don’t belong in America.”
Her answer: the most ordinary man imaginable came to her home state to say that, while he stood in buildings her ancestors helped build. Imagine standing on the shoulders of the people who built this country, then telling their descendants they don’t belong here.
She’s not going any damn place.

@tylerwatt We, taxpayers, paid for it. So what did McKinsey do to draw out savings in an already cash withdrawn health system? Didn't take brainiacs to close surgeries, to find profit from free labor of staff who worked 123% over capacity hospital without pay.
Ontario is laying off nurses and health care workers while the Ford government spent $2.09 million on McKinsey looking for health care "savings."
Ontarians deserve full transparency. How much was spent, what were they hired to do, and what did they recommend?
Release the contracts, reports and recommendations. All of it. #onpoli

Amber Guyger killed Botham Jean in his own home while he was eating ice cream. She received a 10-year sentence and was granted parole after serving seven years.
Karmelo Anthony, a Black teenager who maintained that he acted in self-defense, was convicted of murder in June 2026 and sentenced to 35 years in prison. When Anthony requested a new trial, that request was denied.
A white former Dallas police officer who killed an innocent Black man in his own home was granted parole after serving seven years.
Botham Jean did nothing wrong. His life was taken from him in his own home. He should still be here.
Justice cannot be selective.
LUCAS WALKED INTO THE SHELTER PLANNING TO TAKE HOME ONE DOG.
The shelter smelled of disinfectant, damp concrete, and something harder to describe—maybe hope. Lucas was 27, living alone in a small one-bedroom apartment, and he had convinced himself that adopting a dog would be simple.
His friends had shown him pictures of Max, a Golden Retriever with a happiness that seemed to reach the room before he did. The moment Lucas approached his kennel, Max burst toward him, tail wagging, eyes shining, overflowing with excitement.
Lucas laughed.
This is the one, he thought.
But then he noticed someone else.
In the back of the kennel sat Maya, a gray Pit Bull with beautiful amber eyes. She wasn't barking or jumping. She simply watched Max, never taking her eyes away from him.
A volunteer named Sophie quietly explained their story.
Max and Maya had been found together two years earlier. They had been inseparable ever since. The shelter once tried to separate them, hoping Max could be adopted on his own.
Maya stopped eating.
She trembled whenever she was alone, and Max became withdrawn too. He refused comfort from anyone.
But when they were reunited, Maya rested her head against Max and finally slept peacefully.
“They only want one dog,” Sophie said. “Max is easy to adopt. But Maya depends on him. Without her, Max isn't completely himself either.”
Lucas stood there silently.
Something about Maya's quiet fear touched a place inside him. He understood what it meant to need someone when everything around you felt uncertain.
Finally, he looked at Sophie.
“Then I'll take both.”
Sophie warned him about everything that could make it difficult—the small apartment, the expenses, the responsibility, and the emotional challenges of caring for two frightened dogs.
Lucas listened.
But he had already made his decision.
He couldn't bring Max home knowing Maya would be left behind.
The first few weeks weren't easy.
Maya was terrified. She wouldn't eat unless Max was beside her. She often curled herself into the smallest corners of the apartment, barely moving.
Lucas didn't force her to trust him.
He simply stayed.
He gave her patience, quiet, space, and time.
Slowly, the little signs of progress began.
A step toward him instead of away.
A longer glance.
A moment of calm.
Then, one evening, something changed.
Max was sleeping across the room when Maya slowly walked toward Lucas.
She stopped beside him, lowered her heavy head onto his knees, and stayed there.
It was her way of saying:
I trust you now.
A year later, the apartment is still small. Lucas is sometimes more tired than he ever expected to be.
But he wouldn't change a thing.
Max is still the joyful, goofy Golden Retriever who fills the room with happiness.
And Maya is no longer hiding in his shadow.
She walks with confidence now, carrying herself as though she finally understands that she belongs.
Every morning, Maya reaches the door first.
Then she turns around and looks at Lucas with those amber eyes.
No words are needed.
The question is always the same:
“Are you coming with us?”
And Lucas always follows.
Because somewhere along the way, he realized he hadn't simply rescued two dogs.
They had rescued a part of him, too. 🐾❤️
And by the way, Cornell refusing to give the rape victim back her tuition so she could go somewhere else and not be faced with her rapist they refuse to prosecute is another form of assault.
You know that "giant" steel mill (made by an Indian company) that Trump claimed was going to get built in Iowa the other day? Yeah, the moment you heard Nutlick say "the deal is done", you should have known there was something fishy.
Turns out, it's all BS. What a surprise.
@tobosbunny These companies really do not care.....we lost a colleague to cancer in August and his partner also works with us in the same organisation. Not one manager has reached out to her, or sent a condolence card or flowers. No acknowledgement at all. Disgraceful
My partner retired today. Over 50 years with the same small business and guess what they did? Nothing...no cake, no gifts, nothing. 50 years of being the most reliable, fixing things he didn't have to, staying late to finish jobs so others could leave on time. I'm so pissed off.
