I've already tweeted a bit from this account but thought I'd sort of introduce myself anyways. I'm Dan, and I'm a mathematican teaching at a college in Connecticut. Before I went to grad school I was in the Army for five years, doing Afghanistan and all that.
I'm getting rid of this account. I might get rid of my main Twitter as well but I've been inactive here and only get right wing conspiracy post notifications from this trash app. You can find me at https://t.co/29W8K6WDAM . Enjoyed the #chesspunks but I'm done
@netflix changed the formatting of their subtitles and it honestly is affecting my ability to enjoy our shows (since my terrible hearing forces me to just read subtitles the whole time).
Great end to the North American Corporate Chess League tournament! Went 3-3 tonight. My company ended up tied for 16th place, pretty dead center in the pack. I'm very excited though because I ended up as #1 in the company with 11 points! I'm just so happy, what a fun time
Game two went well as well! Felt more challenging but I had a bishop pair in the end. The turning point was this knight move. He wanted me to take then Nxc3 forks. After Qxc4 Nxd1 Rxd1 though I had a beautiful open position.
First game done! Next one in a few minutes. I haven't played 10+2 in months, this felt so great. We played in lichess but I can understand the chesscom analysis better

I'm very excited because I've joined my new company's team and will play some tournament games tonight in the North American Corporate Chess League! There's three games tonight and I'm very excited, though they're using lichess ratings and I'm way underrated there
Really awesome video with @GothamChess . I loved the way the video ends talking about AI. The conversation though wasn't about Alpha Zero or Stockfish, but about how to think about moves that are good at an intermediate level as opposed to the best.

Sometimes a draw is just as fun and rewarding as a win. This was a hard fought game and I held this drawn position for 20 more moves with only 2:30 left (drawn by repetition)
