I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have worked for @SpeakerJohnson not once, but twice over the past eight years: first when he chaired the Republican Study Committee (RSC), and again when his colleagues chose him to lead the House as Speaker. In just a few days, it will be three years since he was handed the gavel. In that time, there have been many tense moments and late nights, but also a tremendous number of accomplishments. I witnessed many of them from my most recent position in President Trump’s White House. Dan Ziegler—his former Policy Director—and I took a moment to write about some of those consequential wins.

Some personal news I’m grateful to share. After a medical appointment at the Mayo Clinic this week, my pathology results came back clear.
I am cancer free.
Thank you to my family, friends, doctors, and everyone who prayed for me, checked in, and supported me along the way.
A special thank you to President Trump for his unwavering support. I am deeply grateful and will continue to work to advance his America First Agenda.

Eleven years ago, @JamesCBraid interviewed me for a mid-level policy job in a House congressional office. He grilled me on legislative process, my education, my willingness to work brutal hours, and—yes—my vocabulary. Then he hired me. I had no idea that a decade later I would work with James again, this time in President Trump's White House.
But even then, it was clear James was going to be a dominant force in the Republican party and the conservative movement.
If you know James, you know he is the hardest working person in Washington. That is not an exaggeration. But he is much more than that. James is a fiercely loyal friend. He is infinitely intelligent. And he cares about this country deeply—deeply enough to make the kind of sacrifices that have made him the most successful White House Legislative Affairs Director President Trump has ever had, and among the best in American history.
Working with James—whether it was late nights in the Rayburn House Office Building or white-knuckle moments in the West Wing—was the honor of my career. Congratulations, James.
I am profoundly grateful to President Trump and Vice President @JDVance for the opportunity to be a part of this extraordinary team, and to serve in an administration that has worked with the Congress to deliver the largest tax relief in American history, the resources necessary to secure the border and build the wall across two reconciliation bills, the fastest confirmation of the cabinet in twenty years, and defeating two Democratic shutdowns.
I want to thank @SusieWiles47 and @JamesBlairUSA for their indomitable leadership, the incredible staff they have brought together, and to the extraordinary team at the Office of Legislative Affairs, who have contributed so much to the work of the administration with Congress, most especially the 47 OLA deputy directors past and present: Jeff Freeland, Pace McMullan, Jay Fields, Katie Bailey and Chad Yelinski.
@HeidiOverton is a phenomenal choice by President Trump to lead the @FDA. I am proud to have worked with her in the White House, where I was able to see first-hand how hardworking, intelligent, and committed she is to improving our nation's health care system. Congratulations, Heidi!

Some late afternoon meetings in the Oval Office are more interesting and historical than others. Listening to two brilliant House Speakers and President Trump talk about issues of the day is just one of so many reminders of how fortunate I am to have my job.
And, I am now apparently the longest serving Chief of Staff to President Trump. Such an honor.
President Trump’s White House Legislative Affairs team - led by Director James Braid, Senate Deputy @PaceMcMullan, House Deputy Jeff @Fr88land , & Internal Deputy Jay Fields - deserves great credit & for shepherding this historic legislation through Congress.
It is the most consequential piece of Republican legislation in decades.
America Salutes You, Team.
W&J welcomes Jay Fields as Principal. A former Deputy Assistant to the President, he brings West Wing legislative strategy experience to the firm.
