Hello everyone,
My name is Lucas Massawe from Tanzania 🇹🇿, and I’m incredibly happy to share that I’ve been selected for the most prestigious scholarship in the world – the Chevening Scholarship 2025/26 which is under the Government of United Kingdom(UK)
From over 102,000 applications worldwide, only around 1,500 scholars were selected (1.5%)
Out of the Tanzanians who were shortlisted for interviews, just 16 of us were chosen. I feel truly humbled to be among them.
This September, I’ll be pursuing my Master’s in Global Health at one of the UK’s most beautiful universities, renowned for its top faculty and Career services – the University of Greenwich @UniofGreenwich in London.
This journey wasn’t easy. I learned about the Chevening Scholarship in my third year of university and believed I would get it one day. At 25, I achieved it before finishing my pharmacy internship. God has been so good. It took months of preparation, late nights, and moments of doubt, but I stayed positive.
I can’t explain how much motivation and support I received from my senior pharmacist brothers, Brother Josephat Hema @HemaJosephat and Brother @HamisiMsagama , who supported my passion from the beginning to the end. I had scheduled calls and Google meetings with them even at midnight. Thank you so much for making this dream possible.
After I was shortlisted, my sister Winnie Aranya Itaeli Kweka and brother Ngusa Petrus Kalambo gave me mock interviews and full support. Thank you for helping me prepare and do my best.
Thank you to my beautiful sister Maryanne Favour Ong'udi from Kenya, who introduced me to the Kenyan group where I had several mock interviews with the Kenyan community. She personally did a mock interview with me and was able to correct and add more information that greatly impacted my chances.
Thank you to Professor Eliangiringa Kaale @eliangiringa1 , Professor Raphael Zozimus Sangeda @rsangeda , and Dr. Dr. Lwidiko Mhamilawa @Lwidiko for their recommendations, which made this life-changing opportunity possible.
Thank you, Professor Eliangiringa Kaale, for always supporting me like your son.
Thank you to my beautiful sister Priscilla Mawuena Adjeidu , who has been supporting my work, providing opportunities for me, and praying for me every single day.
Thank you, brother Farhan Yusuf @faryus88 and brother Erick Gilbert , for advising me wisely in both life and career. You are indeed great people.
I am not only happy for myself but also for my friends with whom I prepared together. God has been great because, out of four of us, three people were selected @meselineraphael , me, and Samwel Msuya), and one was placed on the reserve list.
A heartfelt thank you to the UK Government through the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, @FCDOGovUK, the British High Commission in Tanzania @UKinTanzania , and the University of Greenwich @UniofGreenwich of for this incredible support.
Indeed, I’m grateful for 2025. Thank you, Mama and my father, for your prayers 🕊. I have finally reached another dream.
I am very excited to join the Chevening Family and later on the Alumni network with masterminds @tonytogolani@TitoMagoti@MbelwaK@CarolNdosi
and others.
