To all the amazing women in the world, and particularly those in my life... My family, my friends, my colleagues, my mentors... Happy international Women's Day!
Happy #InternationalWomensDay There's much to celebrate β¨ about women's achievements, yet we all know there's more to do. Worldwideπ let's #EmbraceEquity & build a better world for women everywhere. Collectively we can all forge positive change #IWD2023ππ½https://t.co/yvAXmQnnxd
@nofrillsCA and other grocery chains continuing to profit from greedflation. Another example... Until this week, how has this food item gone up by 33% (and that's if you buy bulk)?
This is what meaningful action from consultation looks like. "ImagineΒ a Canada where every child & young person ... is guaranteed the right to an education that grants βan equal opportunity to develop abilities, individual judgement & sense of moral & social responsibility....β
Math inquiry... How can it be that when food inflation is at about 11% that, for eg., Free form chicken was $8.80/kg a year ago and it's now $13.20/kg @nofrillsca.. that's 50% increase! This is one of many examples of exorbitant food prices. Who's profiting at others' expense?
@Mrwarrenddsb shared so many great features of the VLE tied to effective digital pedagogy that make for an inclusive online learning environment: Video Note with auto closed captioning, Audio notes, accommodations, special access and release conditions. #boltt2223
Thanks @MrGeerlings and Grand Eerie team sharing how to grow, increase momentum & support online learning program, breaking barriers to ensure success for all students. #BOLTT2223
Thanks @wc_booth for practical strategies in a great #boltt2223 session on the use of the VLE to build online community. Empowering students to own their learning process begins with building relationships - J. Spencer
Feeling the vibe... Prince (TAFKAP) and the Revolution! Apparently a social justice advocate & also of STEM & green technologies. https://t.co/pXYsPLxH63
@ReadLila@wrdsb Congratulations Lila! So excited for you & your adventures in retirement! Enjoy every moment. You inspired many, including myself, and one thing that has resonated with me that you said is that relationship building is key to everything a leader does.
When we start moving antiracist efforts at the pace and in the ways insisted upon by the people who experience racism rather than the pace and ways of the people who benefit from racism: only then have we started our racial justice journey. Everything before that is privilege.
That's a wrap 21/22 school year. Thank you to all the amazing teachers, DECEs, support & admin staff, caretakers, central staff, administrators, superintendents, ADs & directors navigating these last few years in service of students & their families. Have a great summer!!!
@Alisongsv @s_spyropoulos@LC4_TDSB@TDSB_YoungWomen Congratulations on your retirement Sandy. You will be missed indeed. Thank you so much for your leadership. Enjoy every moment of the next chapter in your life. Take care, Wai-Kin
It's wonderful to see so many corporations marching at pride or flying pride flags but let's ensure this is not about π capitalism or Pink washing. Stand with us on important topics. As a community, we must be united and continue to fight for our rights. We are resilient!
As many of us celebrate Pride π, please remember the hate crimes of Orlando's Pulse attack only 6 years ago & now in Oslo. Innocent lives taken. Some 70 countries (of 195 in the world) criminalise 2SLGBTQ folx. Imagine, in more than a third of the world, I'm considered criminal
In countries like Canada where 2SLGBTQ+ folx are not criminalised (it was in 1969 here), microagressions, prejudice, harassment, discrimination still occur on a daily basis. This is why we continue to speak out. This is why Pride must not be separated from Politics.
The Trans Pride Rally & March were bigger & more beautiful than ever. Thank you @OFLabour & everyone who marched in solidarity & love & pride. π³οΈββ§οΈ #TransRightsAreHumanRights#toronto#PrideMonth
Still relevant today & likely in my lifetime & the lifetime of my children & theirs. Our work continues. At schools, we must ensure that 2SLGBTQ+ voices are heard. Representation matters. Politics can't be separated from Pride.
It's Pride π³οΈβπ month! Choose β₯οΈ. To all 2SLGBTQI+ folks, we're privileged to celebrate Pride. Politics is an innate part of our identity. We must not forget this. With our ideas, voices & actions, collectively we have the power to overcome intersectional oppression & bigotry.
