Hundreds of children from Bihar travelling to study in madrasas were intercepted and investigated on suspicions of trafficking. Yet, in case after case, authorities found no evidence of trafficking, child labour, or any wrongdoing.

Reports indicate that 375 children were stopped across multiple incidents this year, most of them Muslim and many travelling to recognised madrasas for education. Some were even subjected to disturbing questions about whether they were being sent to become terrorists.

When prejudice begins to drive governance, innocent children become its first victims. Educational journeys are treated as security threats, religious identity becomes grounds for suspicion, and constitutional guarantees of equality are steadily eroded.

The BJP government must explain why Muslim children seeking education were repeatedly targeted despite the absence of evidence. India cannot be governed through fear, discrimination, and the politics of hatred. The Constitution demands justice, dignity, and equal treatment for every citizen.
