The UUA joins the chorus of voices urging a ceasefire in Israel and Gaza, the admittance of humanitarian aid, and the restoration of power and water to Gaza to prevent the further loss of life. Read our full statement with context and background online at: https://t.co/1spxJwEmyh
@GenuineJLY@AnimalPlanet At the height of COVID pandemic, our hospital installed TVs in ICU and COVID units to stream “puppy cam” and other cute/silly animal channels. At the time I scoffed ($$ for TV, not PPE or staffing?), but ok— sometimes it’s a welcome break, if only for a few minutes.
I’m so excited to finally be able to see a production of A NEW BRAIN, after having fallen in love with the original cast recording years ago… supporting LGBTQIA+ theater is a bonus. ❤️🎭🌈🧠
There are a lot of ways to mother. Whether today is joyful, difficult, or complicated, Happy Mother’s Day to you. 💐❤️🩹

I learned today that my hospital is installing weapons detection systems at its main entrances.
While we’re probably late to this security trend, it feels big. A sobering reminder of threat of violence, even in a space that is meant to be a compassionate, healing environment.
@ndyG83 And to keep me humble — today a patient’s family asked that my supervising MD see them moving forward, and asked for me *NOT* to return again. 🙃 I don’t think MD will ask for details, but I’ll be curious to know if family volunteers on their own, why/how I’ve offended them. 🤷🏻♀️
@ndyG83 Ha, I wear a small pin on my badge, given to our PC team to thank us after a generous donation in memory of a deceased patient. I was primary PC provider on the case. It’s not as cringey(?) as “hero”, but it does help remind me that *maybe* I don’t totally suck at my job. 😬
One of the greatest gifts from our pediatrician: “Just because you’re an NP and you understand all this, doesn’t mean you have to explain it all to your family. Your job here is to be MOM. Let me do the explaining.”
Thank you to all who support family members. 💖 2/2
When my son was hospitalized at 4 months old, I held it together until my UU minister surprised me and came to the ED to meet me for support (she had seen my FB post as a “bat signal” for help). 1/2
A couple brought their baby in last night. Baby was lethargic and listless. He was stable, but unwell.
The dad went home to grab some things for admission.
I went to check on mom because she had been very emotional when I was assisting the primary nurse do procedures.
@GenuineJLY That description of the arrangement for “Both Sides Now” sounds fascinating. I hope to get a chance to hear it. Congrats on a great run with @OFFICIALJSTUNES 💖

AAHPM has urged DEA not to finalize proposed rules for telemedicine prescribing of controlled substances after the COVID PHE expires, as its plans don’t account for the unique needs of patients w/ serious illness or team-based care. Read our letter: https://t.co/5UsTCXvySO #HPM
@marianliu@washingtonpost@aboutus My Chinese name 嘉玲 ‘Chia-ling’ (this is Taiwanese Wade-Giles romanization; I think Pinyin is ‘Jiā Líng’) is derived from my mother’s hometown of Chiayi, Taiwan. I’m told that 嘉玲 can also be said as ‘Ga Ling’ or ‘Ka Ling’, which then made its way to English ‘Karen’.
Having serious #hapc23 FOMO since I can’t attend Annual Assembly in person. 😔 Admiring y’all from afar and living vicariously through your posts and pics. One day, one day, I hope to join you IRL. For now, I’m doing virtual / asynchronous. Be safe, and have the best time! 🫶
