Reading the Appeals Judgment in Case 002, ECCC and – this.
Is this Appeals Judgment actually saying that 'fair trial rights apply to the prosecution and civil parties as well as the accused'?
And, on what basis?

ICCBA President addressing the #ICC Assembly of States Parties, stating that until the ICC embraces the teams representing #Defence and #Victims, its justice ideal will not be achieved. The chronic underfunding of these teams is endangering the right to #fairtrials#ASP21
Today, a #Syrian lawyer on @Alhassan_ICC team was denied entry 2 #ASP side-event on Syrian victims because she had a #defence badge. We are concerned, disappointed & calling 4 urgent change. How can #ICCdefence get a seat at the table if denied entrance 2 the #roomwhereithappens
On 05/12, we demonstrated to raise awareness on the defence working conditions: no termination notice, no sick leave or parental leave, unemployment and retirement pension, proper protection against moral or sexual harassment #ICC#ASP21
It appears the #ICC defence team members are refused entry to the World Forum in The Hague where #ASP21 is taking place, although normally they had access to ASP sessions with their ICC badges.
Why? Their demands for better labour conditions must be too embarrassing for States.
The ICCBA has been informed that all #ICC defence and victims’ team members are prohibited from attending any of the #ASP21, which is a change of policy to previous (pre-pandemic) sessions of the Assembly of States Parties.
One year ago today, my client, Francois-Xavier #Nzuwonemeye arrived in #Niger following his #ICTR acquittal. Today, he and seven others remain under house arrest there. @unirmct has been unable to find a single country to accept them. Can someone at #ASP21 step up and help them?
Historical strike at the #ICC!
Support staff are immensely dedicated to their work and the accused - if they strike, it’s because there’s no other way to raise awareness about the appalling and unfair work conditions - and this only affects the Defence - think about that!
@itsmececileL explaining the many-hatted role that is being a defence team member before international courts. Despite the workload, required skillsets and lack of institutional support, they make a fraction of what their prosecution counterparts get paid @adc_ict conference 2022
@CICJ_VU Hello! I was trying to DM you but don't seem to be able. I have an internship call to circulate, would there be any interest in sharing it from your side?
Is anyone looking at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers?
Some figures from Case 06 so far:
-22 months of pre-trial detention
-no trial date in sight
-1 million pages of disclosure served on the Defence (figure to increase)
