Jonathan Kent had only recently discovered his powers, but suddenly he was flying like he had been doing it his entire life.
He jumped from a towering glacier, expecting to fall. Instead, he took off, racing through the snowy valley at incredible speed.
Superman watched nervously as Jonathan flew faster and faster.
Then a massive glacier appeared directly in his path.
Jonathan didn't slow down.
He flew straight through it.
When he returned home, he was bursting with excitement.
“Mom, I flew around the world! I think I've mastered all of Dad's powers!”
Lois was thrilled.
But Jordan was watching from nearby.
His brother had powers. His mother was celebrating him. And once again, Jordan felt like he was standing in Jonathan's shadow.
Later, Jordan walked into the barn, unaware that Luther was waiting for him.
Luther knew exactly how to get inside his head.
He played Jordan a recording from an old crisis when Lois had been forced to choose which of her two sons would survive.
Then Jordan heard the words that shattered him:
“Jonathan is a good boy… and your favorite son.”
Jordan froze.
Everything he had been feeling suddenly seemed true.
Maybe his mother really did love Jonathan more.
Luther encouraged him to confront Lois, and Jordan walked away consumed by anger and hurt.
But there was something Jordan didn't know.
He had heard only a piece of the story—a painful moment taken from an impossible situation.
And that is where the real danger began.
Sometimes people don't need to lie to destroy a relationship. They only need to show you part of the truth and let your emotions create the rest.
Jordan's jealousy made him vulnerable, while Luther's manipulation gave that jealousy somewhere to go.
The lesson is simple: when something threatens the people you love, don't let anger make your decisions for you. Ask questions. Hear the whole story.
Because before you turn against someone you love, make sure you're not reacting to a version of the truth created by someone who wants to separate you.
