Governor JB Pritzker signed his $56B budget yesterday, bringing the number of tax and fee increases in his two terms to 63.
In his two terms, his tax increases have taken a cumulative $77 billion more from taxpayers, and this does not include an additional $8.5B a year higher property taxes since 2019.
Illinois residents now pay the highest state and local taxes and fees in the entire nation. Pritzker’s tax policies have throttled Illinois economy, which has produced less than 10K private sector job growth since Pritzker became governor.

In 1957, Golda Meir said: "If the Arabs lay down their arms, there will be no more war. If Israel lays down its arms, there will be no more State of Israel."
This is still true in 2026.
Chicagoans,
⁹
Chicago is already facing billions in pension liabilities, debt, infrastructure needs, and ongoing budget pressures. Yet City Hall wants to spend approximately $50 million to purchase and renovate a bus terminal.
Before taking on another major expense, we need to ask some common-sense questions
• Why is this a priority right now?
• What alternatives were considered?
• What is the long-term cost to taxpayers?
• Why aren't we addressing crime, drug activity, vacant properties, and public safety concerns surrounding the area first?
If buses can already load and unload at 95th & Dan Ryan and near Union Station, is a $50 million public project truly necessary, or are taxpayers being asked to fund a convenience instead of an essential service?
As Mayor, I will not sign off on major spending projects without full transparency, a cost-benefit analysis, and public accountability.
My administration will conduct forensic audits, review every major contract, and ensure taxpayer dollars are invested where they deliver the greatest benefit to Chicago citizens.
Our priorities should be safe neighborhoods, strong infrastructure, economic growth, and services for the people who pay the bills. not more questionable spending decisions.
Chicagoans deserve answers before another $50 million leaves their pockets.
