India’s exam cheating and fraudulent degrees are a national security threat to our country.

Their latest cheating scandal was the NEET-UG paper leak.

On May 3, 2026, over 2.27 million students sat NEET-UG , which is India’s sole gateway to medical college. Nine days later, the exam was cancelled after a guess paper circulating on WhatsApp in Rajasthan coaching centers was found to match up to 120 actual exam questions. 

What investigators found wasn’t a one-off breach. It was an organized racket spanning multiple states, with teachers, coaching center owners, and doctors all playing a role.

The leak traced back to NTA-appointed subject experts with access to exam material. Manisha Havaldar, a Pune school headmistress and NTA subject expert, confessed to memorizing Physics questions and sharing them with a student, who then forwarded them over messaging apps. CBI raids recovered question papers, NTA ID copies, and cash from her home. She had burned her handwritten notes and erased her chat history. 

Thirteen people were arrested across Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, Latur, and Ahmednagar, including a doctor who helped three students obtain Chemistry questions, and a Physics tutor at a Pune coaching institute.  Investigators also found evidence the same network had compromised the 2025 NEET paper. 

According to an Indian Express investigation, India has seen 45 major exam paper leaks over 24 years, with few officials ever held accountable. The 2026 NEET scandal, nearly identical to one in 2024, is the latest proof that cheating and exam leaks are commonplace inside India.

I expected a more believable actor but the Southern Poverty Law Center is slipping since they’ve been exposed.
