i’ve lost so much respect for so many academics who, despite giving lectures where they preach decolonisation, resistance, and freedom, engage in zero material action even when that action occurs outside of the windows of their offices, by the same students they preach to
hounded to death by an unrelenting and under regulated media. in any normal society this would give rise to serious questions about the conduct of journalists and platforms and would lead to change. will be waiting a long time i fear.
The claim that “Cambridge” or “DEI” drove Arday to suicide is unhinged.
It was the media bloodsport of hunting and humiliating a man whose case should never, ever, have been front page news.
Whatever gutter journalists scream, they can’t wash their hands of this.
"When people talk about the need for Black Excellence I counter with an insistence on Black mediocrity: the right for black people to be as average, flawed, compromised & mistaken as any other group of people. The right, ultimately, to be human." R.I.P. Jason Arday
This is so dystopian man. An entire nation under a medieval-style siege, slowly being strangled to death while the rest of the world simply turns a blind eye.
The government smearing an American as a “domestic terrorist” after agents of the state murdered her, is stomach churning in a way I can’t really describe.
You’re watching in real time the government turning against its own citizens. They murdered a woman in cold blood and now they’re smearing her as a domestic terrorist.
You can buy up all of the social media platforms and manipulate all of the algorithms but the people of the world will never forget what it looks like when a mother carries her child's remains in a grocery bag.
A Sikh woman raped in Oldbury, a child shot with an airgun in Bristol, an arson attack on the Barbican Thistle hotel - all last month. An Imam was stabbed in London last week, a Masjid set on fire in Sussex yesterday. No pleas for the fascists to stop marching in the aftermath.
We will keep marching.
We will keep organising.
We will keep speaking up.
Until there is a permanent ceasefire.
Until the siege is lifted.
Until the occupation ends.
Until apartheid is dismantled.
Until the perpetrators of genocide are held to account.
Until Palestine is free 🇵🇸
