Got around to downloading the Canon shots of Monday’s chase, here’s some edits of the (by my judgement) tornado from the supercell that rode the entire CO-86 corridor. These shots taken on that road about 10 miles north of Ramah shortly after 23z

View of interesting storm that passed Denver earlier. Fair mid-upper level rotation but struggling, looked nice but never intensified in the lower terrain

My view of the vague shadow of the St. Libory tornado/wall cloud’s left edge
Would’ve loved to be close up to it but also interesting perspective to show despite the tornado being huge, the parent supercell is always even more amazingly vast
That Watkins supercell had funnels, endless vorticity, and a fantastic RFD cut. Was just waiting for it to plant a well-condensed tube. Still holding my breath that someone out there got even just the slightest bit of ground circulation confirmed 😅

Remembering now 13 years since the worst day in storm chasing, including the death of the singular most inspiring human that drove my passion for it
RIP TWISTEX and Richard Henderson
@skierman69 Had some fun days, weak tornadoes the 11th in Oklahoma, great supercell structure the 18th in Amarillo, the 26th in NM was my best chase of 2023. Made the best of my opportunities but just a strangely modest month
I wouldn’t say May 2023 was definitely worse, but I think it’s interesting to note it had no tornado risk days above #10%, no Moderate/High Risks of any hazard type, no tornadoes rated above EF2, and totaled ~80 tornadoes below average. June easily took May’s shine in 2023
In a year with memorable events almost every month, May was actually terribly unremarkable. The year’s chasing reputation just happened to be built by early season outbreaks before May and further cemented in memory by High Plains insanity after May
Swirls, whirls, and windshield cracking hail 😬. All in a days work near Seibert, CO on 5/21/2026! Some of those swirls and whirls crossed our delta-V = 40m/s, “it’s a tornado”, threshold 🌪️
