The Volpe situation is really very simple. Following 2004, Theo Epstein was branded a genius and Brian Cashman was branded as just a guy who signed big checks. That was the narrative. Cash has spent the past 20+ years trying to disprove that.

@YankeeSource I vapor locked. Would have been 1st and 3rd for Rice, not bases loaded, had Goldy been IBB’d. Maybe Hinch walks both to load ‘em for Ali Sanchez. So what. Still loaded with one out. Goldy for Waldo has to be the play. Waldo ABs since return have been terrible.

@YankeeSource 100%. The move was to put your best players in the batters to win the game right there and now. If Goldy is walked, you get Rice with bases loaded. Even shorthanded, the lack of a move is indefensible. Waldo at this point is not a good player.
