@AgnosticRBG@DeonteFord1 I'm not comparing the governance or political power of FBAs to Haitians. I'm showing how pointless it is to make a big deal about African ancestry when every human has it. We still acknowledge different ethnic groups, which aren't defined by whether they control a nation state.
@Kamjiverse (3/3)
ADOS lost support when it was promoted as an organization, not a lineage-based designation.
Yvette deserves her flowers for getting ADOS started, but Tariq is not the one responsible for its failure.
@Kamjiverse (2/3)
-Tariq trademarked the term FBA
Tariq did not form an organization
Tariq is not a leader of anything
Tariq popularized a term made by Yvette (ADOS) and a term he himself trademarked (FBA).
Tariq didn't co-opt ADOS
@Kamjiverse (1/3) This is the timeline of events
-Yvette coined the term ADOS
-Tariq promoted ADOS by using the hashtag
-ADOS gained traction
-Yvette and and Antonio promoted ADOS as an organization with a leadership
-Tariq distanced himself from ADOS
-Tariq coined the term FBA
@DeonteFord1@MrMathoks "Africa American" is also a relatively new label that got pushed by Jesse Jackson in the late 1980s. It wasn't widely accepted by Black Americans. Call yourself whatever you want. I'm comfortable with who I am.
@MrMathoks@DeonteFord1 Okay. Let's flip it. If I read an online post about an African wanting to harm Black Americans, does that give me a justification to hate all 1.58 billion Africans? Does that sound logical to you? Are you that emotionally wound up?
@MrMathoks@DeonteFord1 Descendants of US chattel slavery existed before the labels ADOS and FBA were applied to them. Water will keep existing regardless of what people choose to call it tomorrow or the day after that. Fuming about a non-existent ideology isn't going to bend reality to your will.
@MrMathoks@DeonteFord1 Someone online posts something disparaging about Africa and you've chosen to fault 40-50 million people for it. I and my family have had bad experiences with Africans and Caribbeans, but I don't blame 1.625 billion humans for those isolated incidents.
Seems a bit extreme.
@factshurtfools@DeonteFord1 I'm open to either interpretation. When it comes to plants, I think there's evidence that they can undergo significant change naturally after being transported from one continent to another. Does the theory of zoned humans still allow for zoned people to evolve over time?
@factshurtfools@DeonteFord1 My point in addressing Deonte was to highlight that FBAs having African ancestry isn't a special distinction. It something that everyone shares assuming the "Out of Africa" theory holds.
@MaxQHellcat "Timothy was listening to too much rap music. We can't let rap destroy the minds of our youths. I need more of your tax dollars to fix this."
