The news is not supposed to be the drama, and the fact that Bari Weiss essentially is decimating programs with the highest journalistic integrity, like 60 Minutes, is really a shame.

I remember being a little girl and watching 60 Minutes with my grandmother every Sunday night, and you knew that was information that was reliable, truthful, poignant, and that would move the needle.

And the fact that this woman seems to be going in and really taking the best parts of journalism out of programming really sucks, and she should be ashamed of herself.

Sorensen on Scott Pelley: We need to make sure that we are building up the journalists who are seeking out the truth. That is the most important tenet of our First Amendment rights: the right of the press not to be persecuted for reporting facts that may be unkind to people in power.

I got to Congress after 22 years in local news, being that trusted voice for my neighbors. And now, when we see what’s happening to CBS News and somebody like Scott Pelley, who is the best in the business, to see this happen to him should really frighten all of us.
