Origins of Khandoba can be traced to Karnataka where his temple is situated in Hoovinahadagali as Elukoti Sri Mailaralinga Mhalsa or Malasamba wife of Khandoba, belonged to the Lingayat merchant community. Traditional Kannada chant Elukoti Elukoti Mailara is also used in Marathi
Khandoba is mahadeva himself, not from any community or anything.
Marhata pagadi is inspired by khandoba not otherway around (he rules deccan from Jejurgadh parvat which is second kailasa), his pahdi denotes ardhachandra.
