NDC WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED

Yesterday’s attempt to undermine the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) through a questionable court order is a reminder that the struggle to strengthen democracy in Nigeria is far from over.

As the Governorship Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Delta State, I do not see this development as a setback. Rather, it demonstrates that our movement is gaining momentum and offering Nigerians a credible alternative. Throughout history, meaningful political change has often been met with resistance.

The NDC was founded on the principles of justice, accountability, inclusion, and democratic participation. These principles are bigger than any individual or any temporary challenge. No legal obstacle or political pressure can extinguish the hopes of millions of Nigerians who desire competent leadership and a better future.

I urge all our members, supporters, and well-wishers across Delta State and Nigeria to remain calm, peaceful, and focused. Our legal team is already pursuing the appropriate legal remedies, and we remain confident that due process will take its course.

This is not the time for discouragement. It is a time for greater resolve. We must continue engaging with our communities, presenting our vision, and demonstrating that politics can be built on integrity, ideas, and service rather than intimidation.

Every democratic movement faces challenges. What determines its success is the courage, unity, and resilience of those who believe in its mission.

The NDC remains strong. The NDC remains united. The NDC remains focused on providing Nigerians with a genuine democratic alternative.

To every supporter who has stood with us, and to the many more joining our movement every day, I sincerely thank you for your confidence and commitment. Together, we will continue this journey with determination, respect for the rule of law, and an unwavering belief that Nigeria deserves better.

The struggle continues. Hope remains alive. The future belongs to the Nigerian people.

An ASP (who's choice of polished haircut suggest banditory/terror/militancy) did not join the @PoliceNG 2yrs ago (so it's a case character). Am most certain the Force has it Code Of Conducts. It should be upheld so we can separate operative from armed non state actors.

I personally condemn the actions of rugs acting in uniform, giving the Force, particularly the @PoliceNG a bad name. Not to mention, I was in Warri that same day and I can recount not less than two illegal road blocks at Ekpa (Refinery Road) - Officers dressed improperly...

FORCE LEADERSHIP ORDERS DISMISSAL,PROSECUTION OF OFFICERS INVOLVED IN EFFURUN SHOOTING

The Nigeria Police Force hereby provides an update on the disciplinary actions taken following the fatal shooting incident of 26th April 2026 in Effurun, Delta State, which resulted in the death of Mr Mene Ogidi.

Sequel to the earlier directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, all officers connected to the incident were immediately withdrawn from the Delta State Command and transferred to Force Headquarters, Abuja, where they were subjected to expedited disciplinary proceedings.

The Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC), alongside other internal disciplinary processes, has concluded its review. Findings established unequivocally that the principal officer, ASP Nuhu Usman, acted in gross violation of Force Order 237 and other extant regulations governing the use of firearms. His actions were unlawful, unprofessional, and a clear betrayal of the oath to protect life and uphold the law.

Consequently, the FDC has recommended the immediate dismissal of ASP Nuhu Usman and other officers found culpable. The Inspector-General of Police has approved the recommendations and forwarded same to the Police Service Commission for ratification in line with due process.

Upon completion of the administrative procedures, the affected officers will be handed over to the appropriate judicial authorities for prosecution for their roles in the extrajudicial shooting.

The Inspector-General of Police reiterates, in the strongest terms, that the Nigeria Police Force maintains a zero-tolerance stance on extra-judicial actions and abuse of power. No uniform confers the right to take life outside the provisions of the law. Any officer who violates this fundamental principle will face the full weight of disciplinary and legal consequences.

The IGP extends his deepest and most solemn condolences to the family of the deceased, Mr Mene Ogidi. He acknowledges the pain and loss suffered and assures the family that this tragic incident will not be treated lightly. The Force is fully committed to ensuring that justice is not only served but seen to be served, in a manner that reinforces public confidence and institutional accountability.

Members of the public are urged to remain calm and law-abiding, as the Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its commitment to discipline, professionalism, and the protection of the rights and dignity of all citizens while ensuring accountability at all levels.
