I think the “FIFA helped Argentina” narrative has permeated football discourse far more deeply than many of us realise.

After Argentina’s last match against Egypt, someone close to me confidently said, “If not for FIFA helping Argentina, Egypt would have won.”

Naturally, I asked if he had watched the match. Your guess is as good as mine.

I had to break the game down brick by brick, with video evidence, before he finally admitted that the claim did not reflect what actually happened on the pitch.

There is nothing wrong with pushing an agenda, but at least do your homework. Do not build your argument around claims that immediately make people question your credibility.

And to Messi fans: you people do not control the narrative nearly enough. What you are doing to Ronaldo fans now is nothing compared to the propaganda and ridicule they pushed when Messi had not yet won a major international trophy.

In 2023, I applied for a position at Zenith Bank and was successful. I completed all the rigorous stages of the employment process and received my official offer letter from the HR department via email.
While my colleagues proceeded to Abuja to collect their posting letters, I declined to do so due to my strong passion for teaching. Fast forward to 2026, I have successfully completed my MSc in Mathematics and Education.

I did 14 months of house job in Lagos without pay.

When we went on strike, they paid 8 months and reported us to MDCN.

The hospital also refused to sign me off.

My NYSC was delayed by 7 months.

I worked & saved for 7 years, wrote my exams, and relocated to the UK.

6 months salary in the UK was more than ALL my salaries in Nigeria COMBINED.

Nigeria treats her Doctors poorly. Period
