Today, I honor the brave service men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage and selflessness will forever be remembered.
Keeping the tradition alive!
The Fire Executive Team was happy to prepare lunch today for the crew of Company 9, A platoon.
This crew donated the most money to our Christmas Box House charity drive this past December. Thanks 9’s for your generosity!
I want to express my gratitude today not only to those members of the SLCFD who have served, but to all Veterans who have served in our nation’s armed forces. Your courage and sacrifice for our freedom and safety are recognized and appreciated. Thank you all for your service.

Earlier this week, I had the privilege of recognizing @slcfire Battalion Chief Karl Steadman. BC Steadman’s incident command skills are some of the best. It was great to honor his contributions to last fall’s 5-alarm Sugar House fire. Thanks Karl for all you do for us!
From a robust storm water system, to debris basins and the addition of Little Dell reservoir, #SLC and our flood control partners, including @SLCoGov, have been preparing for decades to ensure the best possible outcomes for our residents in high snowpack years like this one.
Another winter storm is here, and the likelihood of heavy spring runoff during the warming spring months is high. So we’re declaring April as Flood Safety Month to encourage Utahns to be prepared for flooding and other natural disasters.

@slcfire FFs often go above and beyond in the service of something bigger than themselves. Pleased to award BC Brady George with a Distinguished Service Citation, in recognition of his efforts to mentor and develop the next generation of Fire service leaders.
Due to significant snowpack SLCPU has started controlled water releases from Little Dell and Mountain Dell Reservoirs. Parleys Creek will be moving fast and the water is cold. Be careful around creeks and rivers. #floodcontrol#sugarhousepark#snowpack#wasatch#canyon
Today, I am glad to have had the opportunity to recognize @slcfire members for their distinguished service in response. #SLC is made better by those who prioritize their mission of service. Thank you!
It’s a bittersweet day for @slcfire as we bid farewell to Capt Joe Bush, retiring after 31 years of service. “No matter our differences, we’re all a family!” Capt Bush said today and I couldn’t have said it better myself. Congratulations and thank you for your service.
This week, I shared with @slcfire employees our annual State of the Department. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished so far and excited about our goals for 2023. This is an opportunity for our workforce to come together, to discuss our achievements and challenges. Thank you all
Today, it was my privilege to deliver to Catholic Community Services the proceeds of @slcfire’s annual holiday fundraiser. Thank you to @CCSUT for serving our neighbors who need some extra help this holiday season and all year round.
@slcfire celebrated the graduation of Recruit Class 50 today. Solid, hard-working, focused. The skills you’ve learned will serve you well. Never stop training and never stop learning. Welcome to our Fire family.
I had the honor of recognizing @slcfire Engine 13B and @slcpd officers for their coordination and partnership. On a challenging EMS call, these individuals worked together to provide patients the greatest chance for survival. Thanks @ChiefMikeBrown for joining me. 📷: SLCPD
Veterans’ Day provides us all the opportunity to honor the sacrifice made of all USAF veterans, those still with us and those who have gone before. Thank you and your families for making the great effort to protect the safety of the US and all of us who call this country home.
