After 5.5 hours of work, SLCFD Incident Command has called a “Loss Stopped”, marking the end of danger to the public, damage to the property, and the transition of fire fighting operations to Fire Watch. SLCFD crews will take turns monitoring the scene through the night.
We are de-escalating now and releasing crews. There is still heavy machinery on scene helping to sift through the debris, aiding our extinguishment. Light smoke will continue for some time. We will maintain a fire-watch with some crews on scene through the night.
The smoke plume from this fire has banked down and is headed South East. As in any fire, if there is smoke you can see, stay indoors and consider turning off AC units that may bring in outside air.
