My username — @childofnewlight — started in my early teens, and I still use it today as a man nearing 40.
I read From Sea to Shining Sea by Peter Marshall and David Manuel when I was young. The book covers America from the Constitution through the early 1800s, showing God’s hand in the nation’s survival and the revivals that followed the First Great Awakening.
It introduced the “New Lights” — the group that embraced the Spirit’s fresh work, personal conversion, and biblical authority over against the more formal “Old Lights.” The term stuck with me.
Reading it, I wanted to see — and be part of — a Third Great Awakening: a sovereign move of God that would bring real repentance, revival, and submission to Christ’s lordship across every area of life. So I chose the name “Child of New Light.” It was both a historical reference and a personal prayer.
I haven’t changed it because the desire hasn’t gone away. The cultural situation is darker now, the need is greater, and the promises of God are no less true. I’m still praying for that kind of awakening — or whatever greater outpouring the Lord has planned — and still willing to serve in it.
“Child” isn’t about being young. It’s about dependence, expectancy, and being born of the Spirit. That posture hasn’t changed.
That’s why the name stays.
If you’re praying for the same thing, you’re welcome here.
@blendenzo It's astonishing. When I have more time, I really should pursue a more formal complaint against them. But, I managed to finally get out of the contract and didn't spend that much. I'm sure others are completely oblivious.

Feminism as an ideology is not redeemed by preceding the term with "Christian." Christian Feminism is not redeemed because the term or concept of "woman" appears in the Bible or because God blesses biblical womanhood in Scripture.
This thread isn't about feminism. /2
Opposing feminism does not mean you oppose women or femininity. For the Christian, opposing feminism often means the Christian rightly orders, values, and protects the feminine according to God's word, in light of the Lordship of Christ. 1/

The product, SignalTrace, instead listens to the devices you're carrying, and their sensor clips onto existing cameras your city has likely already got mounted.

White European Christians oppressed my White European Christian ancestors for centuries. The progeny of Anglo-Israelism are continuing their mythological worldbuilding.
