May is National Water Safety Awareness Month! Drowning remains one the leading cause of death for children ages 1-14 in Miami-Dade, yet it is largely preventable. Formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk by up to 88%. Today, the Zero Drownings Miami-Dade (ZDMD) initiative announced two new partners, Bloomberg Philanthropies and Griffin Catalyst, and shared that select summer camps will provide children with life-saving water safety instruction as part of their camp experience.
Thank you to more than 5,000 families who have already joined the Zero Challenge. We are grateful to Bloomberg Philanthropies and Griffin Catalyst, along with our existing partners, Miami-Dade County, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, American Red Cross, The Miami Foundation, and United Way Miami, for their commitment to this work. Together, we are expanding access and removing barriers so more children can learn critical water safety skills. To learn more visit: https://t.co/0fw9A18Pbp
