@ofctimallen I need you to know that my son is such a huge fan of Tim Taylor, he is now walking around with a sign that has Tool Time's PO Box address on it for when anyone says anything stupid, like Al did on the show.
@StephenKing I just read your afterword in Full Dark, No Stars regarding implicitly, if not explicitly, the criticisms you receive. It shed a lot more light on your work for me (a longtime fan), anyway. Thanks for explaining more fully your thought processes.
@thesaltyprophet@KSPrior@RNS But most of us just really like using our imaginations/acting, and saying that the whole thing in general isn't what Godly people need to be doing just seems kind of like a blanket statement.
@thesaltyprophet@KSPrior@RNS Maybe, but the article did state roleplay not just in the bedroom, and that's what larping is. And many folks who play do want to be someone else because they're so unhappy or even some think they were born in the wrong era. It's those folks I can see as who the article points to
@KSPrior@RNS I respect you tons, and I agree with much that you have to say. Even if I didn't though, something something love your neighbor. ;)
That said, LARPing also promotes some fantastic imagination use, one of my favorite gifts from God. Disagree or no, you're still awesome. ♡
@KSPrior@RNS As a LARPer, and a Christian, I have found that these communities are laden with hurt people that need Jesus, and having played for so long, it has given me many opportunities to show the love of Jesus, hear their stories, and opened lots of conversational doors.
@KSPrior@RNS I truly feel like me showing my nerdness on the weekends is a calling, because it is a community in and of itself that is magnificently creative and loving, but also hurting. If this is how I connect, I do this. :)
