Comrades in the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, It is with deep sadness that I address the nation and our leadership today.Around 65 officers, men and women of the Zimbabwe National Army have been arrested and taken for investigation by Intelligence Field Security personnel from the Military Intelligence Directorate (MID).

Among these brave soldiers are the Guard Commander and the sentries on duty that day Corporals, Lance Corporals and Privates. They have become victims of the deepening institutional decay within the ZNA.

As I speak, they are being held at 2 Brigade Headquarters, Cranborne Barracks. They are undergoing interrogation and, reports indicate, torture in an attempt to force confessions regarding the distribution of leaflets bearing the code name THE PEOPLE’S ARMY.

These leaflets were found scattered across cantonment areas in Harare on the morning of Wednesday, 10 June 2026, at the following locations:1 Commando Regiment
2 Brigade
Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks (KG6)
Dzivaresekwa Barracks (2 Infantry Battalion)
Manyame Air Base
Air Force Headquarters

This incident has left the rank and file of the Defence Forces deeply angry.Let me be very clear Every struggle has its casualties. No amount of intimidation, harassment or torture will force the soldiers of this country to support CAB3 madness or any faction that has lost the confidence of the people.

You will never identify the individuals responsible through these methods because this was not the work of outsiders it was an inside operation carried out by serving personnel to warn you. It is a well-coordinated message from within the barracks.Stop wasting time and national resources chasing shadows.

The men and women you have arrested are innocent. Release them immediately and end this madness of persecuting soldiers for expressing the frustrations of the entire institution.

The Zimbabwe National Army is not private property. It is a national institution composed of patriotic men and women sworn to defend the sovereignty, territorial integrity and the people of this country not to protect individuals or factions.

I have buried comrades. I have seen empires of men rise and crumble under the weight of their own arrogance. And today, I tell you plainly Mnangagwa is digging his own grave.

He thinks the Constitution is a piece of paper he can twist like a goat’s tail. Two more years? For what? So he can finish looting what little remains? So he can silence the last voices of reason within ZANU-PF? So he can hand over power to his chosen criminal Tagwirei while the people starve and the veterans die forgotten?

He does not trust the people to choose their leader freely in 2028. That is not leadership. That is fear dressed in a suit. That is a man who has forgotten that the same povo who carried him to power can also withdraw their support. The same soldiers who protected him can also remember their oath to the nation, not to one individual.

Look at what is happening. Generals who fought for this country are dying, and no one asks why. Heroes Acre is becoming a monument to silence. The economy is in ruins. Youth are fleeing. Yet he wants more time. More time for what? To dig deeper?

I stood at Heroes Acre not as a stranger to that ground. I have buried comrades before, as soldiers must. But I will not stand by and watch the revolution we sacrificed for being buried alive by one man’s greed for longevity.

Robert Mugabe made that mistake. He built much and then destroyed it in service of his own throne. Now history repeats.Mnangagwa, hear me clearly You are digging your own political grave.

The more you push against the will of the people and the Constitution, the deeper the hole becomes. One day you will stand at the edge and realise there is no one left to pull you out. Not the youths you have neglected. Not the war veterans you have abandoned. Not even the party you claim to lead.

We old soldiers do not fear death. We have stared at it since the 1970s. But we fear betrayal of the revolution. We fear a Zimbabwe where power is more important than the people.This is not personal. This is duty.

If Zimbabwe becomes a family dictatorship and dynasty of the Mnangagwa family, the influx of Zimbabweans into South Africa will be ten times higher.

General Muchena has revealed that when he met Mnangagwa to discuss CAB3, the response he received was: “Whoever wins, wins.”

That remark is chilling. It confirms the worst kept secret: Mnangagwa is not merely associated with CAB3; he is its father, its mother, and its son. More than that, he has reduced constitutional amendment to a personal contest, as though the Constitution of Zimbabwe were nothing more than his private battlefield.

In his mind, if the amendment passes, he wins. If it fails, he loses. That is a grotesque way to treat the supreme law of the land. How does a whole 80+ old leader come to see the Constitution as a stage for settling ego, ambition, and political score? How did our national charter become the arena in which one man records his victories and the rest of us record one big loss?

But beyond the insult, that response is an open dare. It is a declaration of political combat from an octogenarian who seems to be saying, in effect: I can outplay all of you. That claim is either true or false, but it is no longer some mystical puzzle to be explained away by political witchcraft and backroom speculation, the famed esoteric quackery. It is a direct challenge that must be resolved in the coming days.

And if this is indeed the battlefield he has chosen, then in a few days the winner must be made plain for all to see and paraded without ambiguity.

Why We Reject Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 We reject Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 because it does not strengthen our democracy it weakens it. We have grown up believing that every citizen must have an equal voice and that leadership must come from the will of the people. This Bill takes us in the opposite direction. It seeks to remove our right to directly elect the President and instead allows Parliament to choose on our behalf. It replaces the principle of one person, one vote with decisions made by a privileged few. It replaces one person, one vote with decisions made by a few. That is not reform it is regression.

GROUNDS FOR REJECTION
✦  This Bill extends presidential and parliamentary terms from five to seven years, keeping leaders in power longer without returning to the people for a fresh mandate. No leader should benefit from changing the rules while already in office.

✦  This Bill avoids the referendum required by Section 328 of the Constitution. If these changes are truly in the national interest, then citizens themselves must be allowed to decide. Those who govern us cannot be the sole authors of the rules by which they govern.

✦  This Bill concentrates more power in the hands of the President more unelected Senators, more control over Parliament, more influence over the courts, and more authority over the conduct of elections. A democracy is strongest when power is shared and institutions remain independent.

✦  This Bill weakens the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, undermines the independence of the judiciary, and abolishes institutions that protect peace, accountability and gender equality. These institutions exist to serve the people not those in power.

 As a generation, as ordinary citizens who have served this country and continue to live its realities we cannot remain silent when our Constitution is being altered in ways designed to diminish our voice and reduce our rights. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. It belongs to the people. It must be amended only with the people's informed and freely expressed consent. The Constitution belongs to the people. It must be amended only with the people's informed and freely expressed consent. We, the citizens, reject this Bill in its entirety. We do not accept amendments that are designed in boardrooms and imposed from above. We demand two referendums on Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 one in principle and one on the final text as the only legitimate path forward.Nothing for the citizens without the citizens!
