Don’t worry it’s not a scam!
Thoughts to ponder: How can we minimize our own implicit bias in your health care practice or even in our daily lives?
Received an email about this ground rounds last week and I’m so happy to be able to virtually attend one of your very informative lecture Dr @Ron_George 😊
The Tortured Poets Department. An anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time - one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure. This period of the author’s life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up. There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted. This writer is of the firm belief that our tears become holy in the form of ink on a page. Once we have spoken our saddest story, we can be free of it.
And then all that’s left behind is the tortured poetry.

Hi. Some news: I’m on Capitol Hill today, where Dr. Atul Gawande just announced that @USAID will commit $10,000,000 this year to radically reduce TB in the Philippines. Together with a million dollars from our family and matching funds from the government of the Philippines, over $22,000,000 will go this year toward comprehensive care to radically reduce tuberculosis.
Over the next four years, we hope a total commitment of over $80,000,000 will allow the Department of Health to train and employ community health workers, nurses, and doctors to find cases of TB, provide curative treatment to the sick, and offer preventative care to their close contacts. We know this comprehensive Screen-Treat-Prevent strategy is the key to ending tuberculosis.
(Part of the reason we’re able to do this for the relatively low price of $80,000,000, incidentally, is because both @jnj’s bedaquiline and @danaher’s GeneXpert tests have recently become cheaper after public pressure campaigns. Activism at work!)
I believe we simply can’t end TB without these kinds of public/private partnerships. After all, that’s how we ended smallpox, radically reduced the burden of polio, and have driven down death from malaria and HIV. Public money is an essential part of fighting disease, so if you’ve ever paid a federal tax, you’re part of this story.
For too long, impoverished governments and communities have been denied the resources to offer this kind of comprehensive care, but we hope this initiative can be a blueprint and a beacon to show the world that we simply don’t have to accept a world where over a million people die every year of a curable disease. Together with USAID and an extraordinarily committed team in the Philippines, we want to show the world the path to end TB.

I love how efficient SG government offices are.
I applied for my police clearance online then they emailed me back when the clearance is ready, scheduled my fingerprint scanning the next day then get my clearance in less than 5mins after the fingerprint scan 🥰

Finally able to attend the face to face conference after the last one being virtual. I hope to see those people who I virtually met last 2021. 🙏
Super excited for this. Yay for being back in 🇸🇬 after almost 2 years 🥰
