got to believe will always have a special place in romcom history kasi HELLO??? college setting, enemies to lovers, a spoiled, masungit rich boy who slowly comes out of his shell because of this makulit, optimistic girl huhuuhu 🥲😭 THE BICKERING TO SLOWBURN ROMANCE WAS SO GOOD!
I swear, growing up in the Philippines, we were literally taught the term “Negrito” in elementary school when learning about Indigenous peoples. We never understood it as a slur. Even hearing the N-word in Western movies and shows, we thought it was just another casual way of saying “what’s up, bro?”
It wasn’t until much later that we learned the historical weight behind those words. Sometimes, what people interpret as racism actually comes from cultural unfamiliarity, not necessarily hatred or malicious intent. Context matters.

A MONTH IN THE LIFE OF A FISHERMAN
LOOK: Filipino actor Mon Confiado shared how he immersed himself in the lives of fishermen for a month to prepare for his role as Pedro in Paul Soriano’s film “The Fisher”.
Known for portraying historical figures and complex characters, Confiado is widely recognized for his roles in films such as “Heneral Luna” and “Quezon”.
"Bago ko siya ganapan, kailangan ko munang kilalanin ang mundo niya. Isang buwan ng paghahanda. Isang karakter na buong-puso kong niyakap," he wrote.
“The Fisher” opens in Philippine cinemas on October 21, 2026. | 📸: Confiado/Facebook [1/2]
