sporadic tweets from a Kentish spot with two great pubs (but no shop), sailing club and a lake (you can't walk round). NOT to be confused with Chipstead Surrey
@doctor_oxford Oh come on, you’re just a highly qualified medical professional with years of relevant training. Whaddya you know about viruses?
No I’m sure Dido and the chumocracy know best. (Dido also suggested that “test and trace alone” won’t end the pandemic. Quite.)
The People’s Republic of Chevening stand ready, at junction 5.
Too long has Chipstead (Kent) been confused with Chipstead (Surrey). Who knows how many team buses have turned up at the wrong @Chipstead_FC? Or is that @chipsteadfcsurr? The situation is (cob)nuts
There are no ITU beds in the valleys. So you might be 23 and invincible if you get COVID but what if you crash your car? Or a friend takes an overdose or a parent needs emergency surgery? Guess what! No beds for you either. And THAT’S how this affects everyone. Rant over.
Thinking of meeting friends in West Kent for NYE? Think again: every ICU bed in MTW was full every day from 20 Dec to 27 Dec. Chances are if you catch covid and need an ICU bed who will have to travel elsewhere for one. Situation also tight at Royal Surrey, SASH & East Sussex.
If, like the British Government, you big up a new strain of Covid to place London and the South into a newly-devised tougher Tier 4 then you can hardly blame the French for saying Zoot Alors! Let’s close the border for 48 hours til we work out what it all means.
@mrjamesob For those wondering why France, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland and Germany have banned travel from the UK, but the EU as a whole hasn't -it's because EU member states are sovereign and make decisions independently of each other. #BrexitShambles#BrexitReality
@TamaraMck14@dmontfort Yeah we’d all be better now off if the NHS hadn’t suffered years of cuts. And I’d like to be in tier 2 too.
But.... if Pembury was full, my guess is most of us would still want our family cared for in another hosp somewhere (even if further afield)
This chart shows the Covid-19 admissions for the Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone NHS Trust (Maidstone and Pembury hospitals) if you are wondering why Kent is in Tier 3 and the biggest concern is the pressure on the NHS across the whole of Kent this is the chart for you
People suggesting we should use excess deaths as the metric to drive real-time epidemic response is the equivalent of a fire safety inspector only asking ‘has the building burned down yet?’
