@Atomicrod I believe volumetric heat capacity is a better metric to compare in this case. thanks for your comments. I agree it is very nuanced based on the design.
@Dr_Keefer Good post. The difference between steam and water density is much higher, but could be lower in pressurized systems. Also there is no such thing as density per unit volume. :)
@whatisnuclear@ErikSTownsend Economics in Indian context could be different. Given the fact that India has to constantly fight to get global uranium supplies, breeder reactor might make more sense.
The priority shift is because I’m worried that a natural or manmade catastrophe stops the resupply ships coming from Earth, causing the colony to die out.
We can make the Moon city self-growing in less than 10 years, but Mars will take 20+ years due to the 26 month iteration cycle.
That is what matters most.
There is also an AI bonus element, but the prime directive must be ensuring the long-term survival of consciousness.
Then you’ll feel pressure to:
• Create hype 💥
• Exaggerate claims 📣
• Spin narratives 🌀
All to keep interest alive.
Meanwhile, real work takes a back seat.
That’s dangerous.
