Click here for my thread on Smash con artists who charged in USD or other currencies without the buyers knowledge.
Do NOT send any harassment to these artists.
@relrelrel_rel Newcie_ charged USD but did exchange rates at the con. but is giving refunds if you think it was wrong.
Aquisces_art claims it was an "accident" that their PayPal was USD but is offering refunds
Can report and not buy again, but do not harass them
My therapist once told me: Imagine being bitten by a snake and, instead of treating the bite, you waste time chasing the snake to understand why it bit you and prove you didn't deserve it.
Since my first post got taken down, I scribbled a little guide for the people who are instantly rushing to get full chargebacks after getting charged in USD, etc at Smash this year.
Please make sure you charge back responsibly.

@relrelrel_rel Once again, don't send ANY harassment.
spicytunaa has allegedly charged in sgd without the buyers consent.
yulicechan 's proxy unknowingly charged in USD but is offering refunds.
@relrelrel_rel I'll add on more as I learn of them, but once again do NOT harass anybody.
erica_thw 's pricing was suddenly increased when you scanned the payment QR code (likely currency changes)
it's the same case for me when I go overseas I have to use an app that allows NFC tap to process local payments
It's good that your friends actually explain it, but the trouble is that smash is such a busy con which applies extra pressure to customers to accept anything you say at check out, (after time waiting in line, deciding what they want, not wanting to disappoint the artist they like etc.) despite it not being normalised in australia to have additional fees, tip etc. added onto pricing at checkout (besides 2% card surcharge)
intl transactions can also cause the bank to charge conversion fees (~2-3%) OR block your card (fraud protection) so it would be a lot better if you & your friends are able to prioritise only taking local currency in the future in aus!~
but yeah idk which vendors thought just straight charging in usd without any kind of informing would be okay, that's very audacious lol

I have removed Sngarila.
They were clear about the use of sgd + surcharge using signs and verbal communication. I apologise for this mistake.
If you believe you were overcharged, they are offering refunds.
Proof of authenticity (part 2 in reply)

@venteaVT This was a common practice at Smash. You will have to contact the artist and ask for a refund or dispute it with your bank.
If the vendors name is showing in your transactions, please let me know who the name is so I can add them to the public list.
@vinc_anthonyy@relrelrel_rel Hello! I got the proof from a tweet. I cannot send it because an artist got it taken down. I also will not disclose who the poster was because they got harassed by artists.
To clear your friends name, I need proof that the proxy didn't charge with sgd.
@chirpycapybara sorry for the late response! 😭
here is the proof of the catalog, an example of 2 transactions, and signage. we shared the table, so we had the same mindset and policy for attending this event! i wrote a lot more here about how we went about it

@AppleCake545811@relrelrel_rel I have been told by another artist that this one wasn't charging incorrect amounts. Please forgive me for this mistake. I am taking down this specific one now
