It takes a lot to be a stakeholder in Indian football. It has been like that for some time now. But when everything around looks like it will crumble, you bank on family to hold on to each other. And more often than not, it is the elders in the house that you turn to, for assurance. All of you at the TATA Group, through TFA first, and then @JamshedpurFC, have been one of our pillars.
To know that Jamshedpur has folded first team operations is a punch to the gut. The players and staff will be without clubs, and they might find one by the end of it all. The League will have a team less, but the season will go on. However, not having the TATA group involved in the top tier of Indian football - that would be a disaster with no alternative.
I understand that some tough decisions in sport are down to what makes sense in the board room. But I can only request and hope that the think tank at TATA picks their heart over head and reconsiders this call. It might be a poor business decision, but it will be the one Indian football needs the most at this hour.
Criticising the TATA Group for Jamshedpur FC's withdrawal from the ISL misses the bigger picture entirely.
This isn’t a lack of commitment, it is a pragmatic business decision driven by investor sentiment.
Here is why we need to look at the broader ecosystem:
1. Corporate Commitment Remains Intact
TATA isn't walking away from football. Their dedication to grassroot initiatives, youth development, and amateur football continues unhindered. They have proven their goodwill for decades; expecting a corporate entity to indefinitely finance top-tier operations without structural returns isn't realistic.
2. The Bleeding Capital Problem
No investor, no matter how committed, will continue to pump heavy capital into a system where cumulative investments over years show little to no measurable ROI, either commercially or on the pitch (National Team). When high spending yields minimal long-term impact on the national game, capital naturally recedes.
3. Structural Transparency is Essential
It is the collective responsibility of every stakeholder in Indian football - administrators, leagues, and clubs to establish a transparent, sustainable framework. Every single rupee invested must yield a definitive, trackable outcome that directly elevates Indian football.
The Bottom Line
Before pointing fingers at investors pulling out, the Indian football ecosystem must look in the mirror. Rebuilding investor confidence requires financial accountability, clear pathways for development, and a sustainable roadmap where corporate investment genuinely benefits the nation's game.

Shocked Jamshedpur FC players, who’re currently playing the Durand Cup, make appeal to the club management and TATA group to rethink their decision of leaving ISL.

APPEAL TO TATA GROUP
We, the players of Jamshedpur, with folded hands plead to Tata’s Top Leadership to rethink their decision. And not destroy the future of Indian Football. This club is the heart and soul of Indian football and the only hope for lakhs of upcoming players.
