The Deva-Asura dichotomy stands even today. It is likely an eternal concept.

The Adharmic materialistic and highly selfish Asuras dominate and drive material progress until their rule becomes a burden on Mother Earth. They may establish such a supremacy that their defeat feels impossible.

Then arise the Dharmic Devas who seemingly against all odds defeat the coalition of Asuras and re-establish harmony and justice.

Asuras are never decisively defeated nor are Devas ever completely decimated. Either is allowed to rule for periods of time.

Such is the cycle of Nature. Such is the dance of Shiva.

The universe is both real and illusory. It is a contradiction. Hence why it exploded into existence. Contradiction is the root of existence and must be accepted for life to continue. Logic fails at the higher levels of existence

It is easier for the universe to explode into existence than be destroyed to its 'inexistent' or bramhamic state. Hence why Lord Shiva, the destroyer, is Ishwara.
