As Curaçao stood on football's biggest stage for the very first time, players, fans and staff struggled to hold back the tears during the national anthem ahead of their historic clash with Germany.

Dick Advocaat was overcome with emotion on the touchline, knowing the journey that brought this small island nation to its first-ever World Cup.
