Hi, I'm Chloe.
I'm 20 years old and today I put my first £200 into my Stocks & Shares ISA
I haven't invested it yet because I want to understand why I'm buying something, not just copy other people
Right now I'm researching VWRP as a long-term investment
All advice is welcome
What was the first investing mistake you made that actually changed how you behaved afterwards?
I've only just started, so the stories are more useful to me than another list of rules.
@ChrisDB101 This is pretty much where I am.
Starting early makes sense, but I don’t want to optimise my 20s so heavily for later that I forget to actually live them.
If you were 20 again, would you pay more attention to your pension, or was putting nearer goals first the right choice for you?
What happened later that shaped your answer?
@Scentsub The employer match feels like the hardest bit to argue with.
I’m trying to start small now while still leaving room for nearer goals and actually enjoying my 20s.
@shaguncrypto I’m 20 and buying a house honestly hasn’t even crossed my mind yet.
I’d rather see more of the world first, then think about where I actually want to settle.
@ChrisDB101 That’s a useful warning.
Something having done well recently can feel like proof you’re making the right choice, when it might be the exact reason to slow down.
Thanks for sharing.
@SammyFutures That sounds exhausting. I can see how checking too often would make it much harder to leave things alone, so I’m trying not to build that habit.
First Friday portfolio update 📊
My £200 is worth £197.04 after week one.
I’m sharing this every Friday so I can look back at the whole journey, not only post when it’s going well.
Being down £2.96 after seven days doesn’t bother me. Week one was never going to tell me much.
