⚡️ Mayor Zohran Mamdani's NYPD is poised to sign a three-year, $750,500 no-bid contract with Israeli surveillance firm Cognyte for FalcoNet, an AI-driven device that mimics a cell tower to track phones and can be mounted on police cars and drones or hidden in a backpack, the New York Daily News reported.
Cognyte won a tender to sell intercept spyware to Myanmar's state telecom weeks before the 2021 military coup, Reuters previously reported. Meta banned the firm the same year, saying its customers used fake accounts to target journalists and politicians in Kenya, Mexico and Indonesia.
The firm is part of an Israeli surveillance industry that grew big as a result of the military's monitoring of Palestinians, whose phone calls Israel's Unit 8200 has intercepted and stored by the millions, including to carry out genocide in Gaza and enforce a brutal illegal occupation in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
@ZinniaMintLove pretty much, lots of dumbasses arguing that we can all just hide our transness or detransition to avoid oppression and that therefore our oppression is not fully legitimate
Fake & Gay!
Moussa Diawara, the Malian national featured in this shockingly poorly researched @60Minutes report, now faces allegations of immigration FRAUD after his asylum application surfaced, revealing that he claimed to be a HOMOSEXUAL man who feared persecution in Mali.

"fascism" genuinely doesn't mean anything to them. "fascism", to them, doesn't even reflect policy, it just reflects mean figureheads who command the same destruction and devastation as their predecessors but are less cordial about it
this is in response to eisenkot, the former IDF chief who wants to expand the israeli military draft even further, being projected to win against netanyahu. you don't hate liberals enough
stop saying this. being trans is not a choice for everyone. there are better ways to analyze the differences in oppression faced by trans people and people of color than by repeating verbatim the conservative argument of "well, you could just stop being trans, it's not that hard"
the point is that transitioning is a choice. you are choosing to be visibly queer. by choice. you’re making the decision. being black isn’t a choice. there’s no decision making in being a poc. what don’t you get?
@antmiun@anroort tell me how anna's original tweet doesn't imply that we are choosing to be oppressed by transitioning. and don't call me "dude", asshole
@anroort@antmiun transitioning is life or death for many trans people. i don't care if "technically they could just not do it!" because realistically that is not an option, unless you want them to die. but i don't think you do, do you?
@anroort@antmiun so you don't understand what i'm saying then. you come so close to grasping my point and then somehow you completely lose it again. do you think it is fair to tell a trans person with dysphoria that their oppression is, at all, a result of their own personal choice to transition?

@antmiun@anroort you just skimmed past my point which is that for many trans people transitioning is PART of being trans and is the only cure to their dysphoria, hence it is not some free choice they can be expected to sacrifice. do you understand this?
@vianchann when someone speaks over dysphoric trans people by implying transitioning is an active choice we can just not make and be fine, i think it's safe to assume they're not dysphoric, or they're just dumb as bricks
