I took Emmy out Christmas shopping yesterday & we went to a cafe.
There were 4 teenage girls sitting at a table. When Emily walked past them they recoiled in horror and started laughing and making “oh my god” comments.
I don’t know if Emily noticed.
Maybe for her the abnormal cruelty from strangers that is so normalised now by social media, and off social media, that she just takes it in her stride.
But I noticed and I do wonder.
I wonder how so many with obviously less than perfect hearts and thought patterns themselves, rationalise their cruelty as legitimate whilst they focus on superficialities like body shape and facial perfection and ageing - particularly for women.
I wonder when did we stop telling our children not to point, make comments or laugh at people who are different to them?
Is it since their parents took to sitting on social media & doing so for hours?
Is that who we are now?
Emily may not fit a mould with her learning disability.
She may not feature as a priority for in deed it could be argued she’s a target for MP’s, legislators, bureaucrats, comedians or social media influencers; but Emily would never judge or hate anyone on the colour of their skin, sexuality, sex, disability or age.
Emily really does meet the world with open arms.
I wish more people did that.
Happy Christmas.

If you’re drunk and need to get home, CALL A FUCKING UBER. Two kids are growing up without a dad, parents have lost two sons, & a sister now has to grieve the loss of her two brothers on her wedding day all because somebody decided to get behind the wheel drunk in 2024. Senseless
MPs are in line to receive an above inflation pay rise of 7.1%
Yet the government didn’t think NHS staff deserved more than 5%, despite a decade of real terms pay cuts.
Please RT if you agree health workers deserve so much better.

We are sending all our love to Kate Garraway and her family following the heartbreaking news that her husband, Derek Draper, has died.
Kate posted to her Instagram: “I’m sad to have to tell you all that my darling husband Derek has passed away. As some of you may know he has been critically ill following a cardiac arrest in early December which, because of the damage inflicted by Covid in March 2020, led to further complications.
Derek was surrounded by his family in his final days and I was by his side holding his hand throughout the last long hours and when he passed. I have so much more to say, and of course I will do so in due course, but for now I just want to thank all the medical teams who fought so hard to save him and to make his final moments as comfortable and dignified as possible. Sending so much love and thanks to all of you who have so generously given our family so much support. Rest gently and peacefully now Derek, my love, I was so lucky to have you in my life.”

Did you know that if you text 85258 when you are feeling depressed or suicidal, a crisis worker will text you back immediately and continue to text with you? Many people, especially younger people, don't like talking on the phone and would feel much more comfortable texting.
