BREAKING: Democratic Senator Chris Murphy sounds the alarm that Donald Trump's dangerous plan to "cripple our democracy" is "happening right in front of our eyes" — and then exposes exactly how.

"Can I take a minute to connect the dots – on how Trump is putting into action a plan to cripple our democracy in a way we may never recover from?" Murphy wrote on X before unleashing a thread breaking it down.

Murphy drew attention to a Republican House report that recommended a ludicrous criminal investigation into former Congresswoman Liz Cheney for her role in the January 6th committee.

It's a rank partisan move on the party of MAGA representatives hoping to ingratiate themselves with Donald Trump, who himself has attacked Cheney on numerous occasions.

"He wasn’t kidding when he said Democrats were the no. 1 threat to America and needed to be dealt with by law enforcement and the military," posted Murphy. "Today House Republican’s referral of Liz Cheney for criminal prosecution – on made up charges – shows you the plan."

"Kash Patel was chosen to lead the FBI BECAUSE he wants to prosecute Trump’s opponents," Murphy explained.

"Not every Trump opponent will fold, but many will. If you have a family at home, are you really going to stand up to Trump if there’s a chance you could end up in jail?" Murphy continued. "History shows that selective prosecution of a regime’s opposition has a broad chilling effect."

"Is there a chance this is all show and bluster? Maybe, but the developments of just the last few days – ABC’s bogus settlement, the referral of Cheney for prosecution, Trump’s suit against the Register – all point to this being very, very real," Murphy concluded.

BREAKING: Democratic star Congressman Jamie Raskin brings down the hammer and demands that Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees undergo FBI vetting — a bare minimum that we should all support.

This has MAGA supporters fuming...

"While I understand the Trump-Vance Transition has reached an agreement with the Department of Justice that makes it possible for the FBI to conduct background checks, it remains unclear whether the Transition will require nominees to submit to them," Raskin wrote in a letter.

"Given this muddled record, I urge you to clearly and unequivocally commit to requiring that all nominees undergo FBI background checks and submit to vetting before receiving access to classified information," he added.

Raskin wrote the letter after the Trump team floated the patently absurd idea of using third party firms to do the background checks, a dangerous break from protocol.

Raskin wants "clear assurance" that the FBI will perform the background checks and raised concerns about some of the nominees refusing to engage in a "standard practice across administrations."

Raskin also raised concerns about reports that Trump aide Boris Epshteyn has been taking bribes as high as $100,000 from potential nominees to promote their case to Trump.

"This is precisely the type of permissive environment in which individuals with undisclosed and unvetted security vulnerabilities can engage in nefarious conduct that could risk American security," Raskin wrote.

America deserves answers immediately.
