WHILE YOU WERE OUT BUILDING OTHER WORLDS WHERE WAS I? WHERE'S THAT MAN WHO'D THROW BLANKETS OVER MY BARBED WIRE? I MADE YOU MY TEMPLE MY MURAL MY SKY NOW I'M BEGGING FOR FOOTNOTES IN THE STORY OF YOUR LIFE DRAWING HEARTS IN THE BYLINE ALWAYS TAKING UP TOO MUCH SPACE OR TIME
Idk what some of YOU aren’t getting?!?
She wrote Peace as an actual question for her relationship at the time. “Would it be enough if I never gave you peace?” and it wasn’t enough for him. But that’s a COMPLETELY different story now.
NOW she has someone who is perfectly happy if he never gets “peace” again because he has her and that’s enough. She’s showing the irony of the song in retrospect.
LET ME JUST GET THIS STRAIGHT…..
• there was a fire on CONEY ISLAND.
(she sang the song today)
• starting at the ALBATROSS HOTEL.
at the west end of the BOWERY.
• in 1903.
(adds up to 13)
• suspect for setting the fire was a former employee over UNREQUITED LOVE.
she said "i vowed not to cry anymore if we survive the great war" and now there's "am i allowed to cry?" because apparently they didn't survive the great war
