The monster lefty serve will naturally keep this match tight and historically Alcaraz hasn’t been as effective returning big serves on hardcourts. Alcaraz is also a player who can be inconsistent if he feels rushed. If Shelton is able to command the forehand, dictate the tempo, and rush Alcaraz’s baseline approach, then I can see Shelton in good positions to break. Alcaraz, despite being extremely good so far, is still coming back from injury and likely isn’t in his best form, still leaving question marks whether or not he can remain competitive the deeper he goes into the tournament.
