The High School Queen is a refreshing action-romance series about Kim Chungha, the greatest warrior of the Joseon Dynasty and a queen consort, who awakens 400 years later in the body of a high school girl who has been the victim of school violence. Using the dignity of a queen and her overwhelming martial-arts skills, she takes down the villains one by one while searching for the dreams and love she was unable to fulfill in her previous life. The series is based on the Naver Webtoon of the same name, written by Cretti and illustrated by Nehae
Kim Sejeong has been cast as the female lead, Kim Chungha. Bae Hyeonseong joins the cast as Seong Wonjoo, the bodyguard who loves Kim Chungha, and Seong Siwoo, the ace of the school’s kendo club. Meanwhile, actor Jo Hangyeol will portray King Yi Nyeong, the absolute ruler of Joseon, as well as Lee Doyoon, a mysterious transfer student.
Kang Hyewon debuted as a member of IZ*ONE in 2018. After the group’s activities ended, she began pursuing acting more seriously through the 2021 web drama Best Mistake.
